A President's Day Potion

Today marks the 61st President's Day celebrated in the U.S.
President's Day, otherwise known as Washington's Birthday, is a day in which we unite and celebrate for the achievements and dedications of our former and current president.  So, On The Rocks... thought it would be patriotic to raise a glass and make a toast.

Oh! Bama
Resembles a Bloody Mary

Drink Type: Cocktail

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum
1/4 oz. Lime Juice
1/4 oz. Lemon Juice
1 splash of soda water

Instructions:
Pour rum, lime juice, lemon juice, and grenadine syrup into a shaker with ice, shake well, and strain into collins glass.  Finish with a splash of soda and garnish with lime wedge and maraschino cherry.

Description:
Fruity...very fruity.  I'm a big fan of dark rum, granted it's served in the right conditions; pretty much anything that involves blue skies and bathing suits.  Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of the "fruity drinks."  The Oh! Bama is just that.  The 1/4 ounce of grenadine syrup is enough of a distraction from a good rum and any drinker knows: a good rum is a great rum.  The cocktail is sweet and tart.  The lime and lemon juice does offset the grenadine, and as you finish your sip, the taste of rum is pleasantly apparent.  I wouldn't turn down this cocktail, but I surely wouldn't order it again...
